Feel like it's time for a Chop. I usually refrain from entertaining the knee-jerk impulse of creating Chop content. Every time I rant about a Chop Move on the Podcast I feel like a fucking dweeb. Grown man sitting in his closet talking shit about fancy peanut butter. I will say though, every now and then it feels pretty good to just go full vent. Type of vent where, at the end, you start defending the thing you just verbally obliterated.
"Maybe I'm overreacting." "Fancy peanut butter’s actually pretty decent." "Maybe I just need to be more careful when stirring!"
So let's get into it. A Movesletter I'll most certainly look back on and cringe.
Your boy just got done watching the Harry Potter series. 1-7B, complete. Lovely series. After Sorcerer's Stone, it was all new to me. Gave up reading the books when I saw the size of Goblet of Fire. 700 plus. Nah bruh, I'm good. Unless of course the 700+ pages are about addiction/consumerism and intentionally created to be a difficult read. Honestly, fuck that book too.
After Sorcerer’s Stone, not only did I come across a new collection of characters and adventures, but I was also exposed to a new WB logo. Warner Bros. got cute and changed their logo to fit the vibe and feel of each movie. Now, I'm well aware this isn't unique for Warner Bros. They've pulled this Move off on several occasions. And I gotta say… Shit’s Chop.
I'm a sucker for tradition, a true romantic. We're talking about an old-timey brand (est. 1923) doing a little song and dance for the youth. Trying to look hip, cool. “Hey look kids! Talk about swag right?” Insert Steve Buscemi 30 Rock meme. C’mon WB, you’re better than that. Run the ball. Stick to the basics. You're on the Mount Rushmore of recognizable logos. Why change shit up? Show your clouds, your golden WB shield and fucking scram. I get you're behind the whole operation, but let the players play. Don’t need some 1923 old head ass company setting the tone. That’s Nolan, Scorsese and Dobby’s job.
Kind of Move I bet Jerry Jones loves. "Now, I didn't care much for the program, but boy oh boy did I love what Warner i-said-uh Warner Brothers did with their logo!" - Jerry Jones after watching Aquaman.
Just ran this Move past my coworker, Danny.
"Oh c'mon Bobbo. It's great! Sets you up for the movie. I usually fuck with your takes but not here."
I have lost a friend.
Why I don't fuck with Chop content.
WB Changing Their Logo to Fit the Vibe and Feel of the Movie. Chop.
